Who is Tiffany Jenkins?

Tiffany Jenkins is a sociologist, cultural commentator and writer, and is Culture Editor for the journal Sociology Compass. In 2010 her book Contesting Human Remains in Museum Collections: The Crisis of Cultural Authority was published, which looks at the influences at play on the controversy over human remains in museum collections. She is writing a new book, Keeping Their Marbles: How the Treasures of Antiquity Ended Up in Museums – And Why They Should Stay There, on the repatriation debate. It charts how museums acquired their objects – at times with highly questionable methods and meansexploring who owns culture and why.

She is a regular contributor to the broadsheet press on the arts and cultural issues, including a column for the Scotsman newspaper. In 2014, she presented the Radio 4 programme 'Beauty and the Brain' on neuroscience in art.

Jenkins has been a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, and arts and society director of the Institute of Ideas where she programmed the arts debates.
