Who is Vasant Dhar?

Vasant Dhar is Head of the Information Systems Group, and Director for the Center on Business Analytics at Stern School of Business and on the faculty of the Center for Data Science at New York University New York University. Professor Dhar also teaches for the Master of Science in Business Analytics Program for Executives.

Dr. Dhar is is a data scientist known for his work in predictive analytics such as the prediction of returns in financial markets, specifically in the use of small disjuncts and collections of models to attain predictions that are robust. His work on predictive modeling extends to social and healthcare phenomena as well as networks. He writes regularly in the research literature as well as mainstream media including the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Wired Magazine. As Co-Director of the Center on Business Analytics at New York University, Dr. Dhar was pivotal in the introduction of Digital Marketing as an MBA specialization at the Stern School of Business, New York University.
