Who was Walter F. Fontaine?

Walter Francis Fontaine was an American architect of French Heritage who specialized in churches and schools, mostly for French Catholic clients in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Despite these numerous religious commissions, in his time he was also sought out as a designer of private homes and industrial structures. He is generally regarded as the most important architect in Woonsocket, Rhode Island's history.
