Who is Walter Asbil?

Walter Gordon Asbil is a retired Canadian Anglican bishop.

Asbil was born on 3 October 1932 and educated at Concordia University. Ordained in 1957, his first ministry position was at Aylwin River Desert. He held incumbencies at South Shore, Montreal, St Stephen’s Montreal, St George's Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec and St George's in St Catharines. From 1986 to 1990 he was Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa when he became coadjutor bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Niagara and then its diocesan bishop in 1991. He retired in 1997.
