Who was William H. Seward, Jr.?

William Henry Seward, Jr. was an American banker and brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was the youngest son of William Henry Seward, Sr., the United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson; his elder brothers were Augustus Henry Seward, a brevet colonel in the Paymaster Corps, and Frederick William Seward, who served as Assistant Secretary of State to his father.
