Who is Yane Marques?

Yane Marques is a modern pentathlon athlete from Brazil.

She won the 2006 South American Championships as well as a gold medal in the 2007 Pan American Games, both held in Rio de Janeiro. This fact made her nationally known, due to the fact that the sport was barely known to the Brazilian general public.

Marques is 1st in the 2010 Brazilian rankings and became 3rd in the world in 2011. In the following year won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics and now ranks 2nd in the modern pentathlon, preceded only by the 2012 Olympic winner, Laura Asadauskaitė of Lithuania.
