Who is Aaron English?

In an episode of the Fox TV drama Bones, a character made a mix of “the six greatest break-up songs” and gave it to a heart-broken colleague. The mix featured songs from alternative-pop stars such as Sia, Mazzy Star, José González, Antony and the Johnsons…and a lone unsigned artist by the name of Aaron English. In 2008, with two self-released albums and into their third national tour of the US, the Aaron English Band's bus was involved in a catastrophic accident on a Midwestern highway. His restaurant-grease-fueled tour bus and most of his musical equipment were destroyed, and English’s touring career was temporarily grounded. By the summer of 2009, however, his fans rallied to his aid and funded the recording of English's third album, “american [fever] dream”. Produced by Geoff Stanfield (Sun Kil Moon, Black Lab) in a 150-year-old warehouse in Seattle during a record-breaking heat wave, the album is a document of English’s phoenix-like journey back from tragedy…and a testament to the resiliency of the creative spirit. Throughout 2010 and 2011 with the release of English's solo project, focus changed to supporting and touring the new album, “american [fever] dream”. Success came with the single “Believe”, a top 20 hit in the AC charts and a Chevrolet advert placement for the track, “Lullaby”. Meanwhile in the background, English's team was working hard to bring the band together. Then, in February 2011, The Aaron English Band released the single 'Norwegian Wood/Kashmir', a reinvention of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin classics that has been a staple of the band's live set for years. The band's official video for this medley is a hit on Youtube achieving 130,000 views as of Oct 2012 and the single edit of Norwegian Wood went to #4 in Virgin Italia Rock chart in the summer of 2012. The band's distinctive sound is ambitious, world-beat-influenced art rock a la Peter Gabriel and Led Zeppelin, driven by Aaron English's vivid lyrics, acrobatic voice, and deft piano work. Also incorporating high-energy rock, pulsing electronics, and instrumentation from five continents into the band's recordings and live shows. Featuring Aaron English on vocals and keyboards, Patrick Strole on guitar and hurdy-gurdy, and, Mark Fauver on wind synth and electronics. The band's live show also incorporates a variety of traditional instruments from around the world. Notable achievements: - Semi-finalist, Coca-Cola/American Music Awards New Artist Competition - Finalist, Atlantic Records’ Soul City Music Quest - Top 5 finalist, 'Album of the Year', Just Plain Folks Music Awards - Charted a Top 20 hit on the U.S. FMQB Modern AC charts, peaking at #18 - The band's cult hit “The Lullaby of Loneliness“ was recently name-checked in an episode of the Fox TV drama 'Bones'
