Who is Adam van Koeverden?

Adam Joseph van Koeverden is a Canadian sprint kayaker. He was born in Toronto, Ontario to a Dutch father and a Hungarian mother. His home club is the Burloak Canoe Club in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. A one time world champion in the 500 m, van Koeverden is the current reigning world champion in the K-1000 m, his favourite event. In total, van Koeverden has won eight world championship medals, two gold, three silver, and three bronze. In addition, he has won four Olympic medals; one gold, two silvers, and a bronze, with his Olympic championship coming at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Adam van Koeverden is the current world record holder in the K-1 500m, though not officially recognized due to changing weather conditions from race to race.
