Who is Aileen Gunther?
Aileen M. Gunther is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly representing the 98th district, which includes all of Sullivan County and parts of Orange County including the cities of Middletown, Orange County, New York and Port Jervis.
Gunther received a nursing degree from Orange County Community College. She is a registered nurse with 29 years experience.
She was first elected in 2003 in a special election to fill the vacancy created by the untimely death of her husband, Assemblyman Jacob E. "Jake" Gunther III. She ran uncontested in the 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010 general elections.
Gunther lives in Forestburgh, where she and her husband raised their three children: Mary Alice, Jacob IV, and Caitlin.
