Who is Alain Bauer?

Alain W. M. Bauer was appointed by the government of Nicolas Sarkozy professor of criminology at the National Conservatory for ARts and Crafts a,d a Seior Research Fellof at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the University of Law and Political Science of China. There were many protests in the scientific community in France against this political nomination because he has not received a Phd. And there is a controversy surrounding his books because he has never wrote alone a book in criminology.

As an elected student on the "U.N.E.F. I.D." list, which was a trotskyist organization, he has been the youngest Vice President of the Sorbonne university, in charge of Finances and Administration, an office he held from 1982 to 1989. Afterwards, he became one of the advisors on national security to the Prime Minister Michel Rocard from 1988-1990.

He has worked occasionally as visiting lecturer as a criminologist at the Sorbonne University, at the National Police Academy, at the National Justice Academy, at the National Gendarmerie Academy and Senior Research Fellow at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He has been elected Professor of Criminology at the National Conservatory for Arts and Crafts under government pressure in Paris in 2010.
