Alan D. Schnitzer

Who is Alan D. Schnitzer?

Alan D. Schnitzer is vice chairman and chief legal officer for Travelers. He oversees the companys legal function and public policy and government affairs function. He also oversees the Financial, Professional International Insurance business segment. In addition, he works closely with other members of the companys senior leadership team on a wide range of business and strategic matters. Mr. Schnitzer joined Travelers in April 2007. He previously served as Travelers lead outside counsel for a number of years as a partner in the law firm of Simpson Thacher Bartlett, LLP, where he advised corporate clients on a variety of transactions and general corporate law matters. Mr. Schnitzer is a member of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of The Legal Aid Society, the nations oldest and largest provider of legal services to the indigent, with approximately 850 lawyers located in New York. Mr. Schnitzer received his undergraduate degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual major in finance and accounting and his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
