Who is Alan Langlands?

Sir Robert Alan Langlands FRSE FRCP FRCGP FRCS FRCPSG FFPH FIA is Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England. He is notable for his past service as chief executive of the National Health Service executive in England and as principal and vice chancellor of the University of Dundee. He has been appointed as vice-chancellor of the University of Leeds, and will take up the post on 1 October 2013 after the present vice-chancellor, Michael Arthur, leaves to become Provost of University College, London.
