Who is Alison Wylie?
Alison Wylie is a Canadian feminist philosopher of science at the University of Washington, Seattle. Wylie earned MAs in philosophy and anthropology and a PhD in Philosophy from SUNY Binghamton. Before Wylie moved to the University of Washington in 2005 she taught at Washington University in St. Louis, the Department of Women's Studies at Barnard College and the Department of Philosophy at Columbia University, and at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Western Ontario. Wylie is currently the senior editor of Hypatia, A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, published by Wiley-Blackwell. In 2013 SWIP named her Distinguished Woman Philosopher of the year.
She works on epistemological questions in archaeological practice and feminist research in the social sciences. Her work is primarily in social epistemology and standpoint theory.
