Who is Alka Tomar?
Alka Tomar is an Indian wrestler. The national National Women Wrestling champion of India, she received the bronze medal in Wrestling at the Doha Asian Games in 2006. Alka Tomar also received a bronze at the Senior Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou in China 2006.
She is also a recipient of Arjuna award 2007. The Arjuna Award is India's leading award presented for Sports persons in India.
She was born and brought-up in a village named Sisoli in Meerut in a Rajput family, is now studying in Gautam Buddha Nagar for the last three years pursuing her Masters degree in physical education from Gautam Buddha Nagar.
She also won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. She is the only gold medal winner from the Western Uttar Pradesh region.
