Who is Amira Alvarez?

Amira Alvarez is an Alexander Technique teacher based in Berkeley, CA who specializes in working with people in pain and sports enthusiasts wanting to raise their performance.

She comes to the Alexander Technique from a background in project management. During this time, she worked long hours at the computer, as many people do, and experienced severe back and neck pain as well as numb fingertips.

Through learning the Alexander Technique she realized what it was that she was doing that caused her pain and now functions pain-free and with much more ease. This tool helped her say good-bye to chronic neck and back pain.

She regularly gives lectures, demos and classes throughout the Bay Area. In addition to her private teaching practice, Amira teaches the Alexander Technique at UC Berkeley through their fitness program and at Google's Mt. View corporate headquarters. She has assisted with the teaching of the Alexander Technique at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and has B.A. in Anthropology from UC Berkeley.
