Who was Andō Nobumasa?

Andō Nobumasa was a Japanese daimyo of the late Edo period, who ruled the Iwakidaira Domain. He was a rōjū in the Tokugawa shogunate, and was active in the wake of Ii Naosuke's assassination. Andō himself was the target of an assassination attempt, which is remembered as the Sakashitamon Incident.

In 1868, during the Boshin War, Nobumasa took charge of the governance of Iwakidaira, and led its forces as part of the Northern Alliance.
