Who was Anthony M. Solomon?

Anthony Morton Solomon was Undersecretary of the Treasury for Monetary Affairs during the Carter administration, and President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York between 1980 and 1984. His affiliation with government service began with an appointment by President Franklin Roosevelt to be a consultant on economic affairs in Iran. When he was drafted into the Army, a letter from the President's office excused him. He left Iran to pursue his PhD in Economics at Harvard. Under John F. Kennedy he headed an economic group scouting the Trust Territory of Micronesia in the early 1960s.
