Who was Anton Hartinger?
Anton Hartinger, was a Viennese artist specialized in flower painting. Hartinger was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1843 to 1851 and a pioneer in the field of chromolithography. Hartinger combined for his still lifes often traditional with more exotic flowers, reflecting the great upsurge in plant collecting, cultivation and botanical illustration taking place within the artist's lifetime. Anton Hartinger specialized in still life subjects composed of fruit and flowers.
