Who was Arthur Penn?

Arthur Hiller Penn was an American director and producer of film, television and theater. Penn directed critically acclaimed films throughout the 1960s such as The Chase and Bonnie and Clyde.

By the mid 70s his films were received with much less enthusiasm. In the 90's he returned to stage and television direction and production, including an executive producer role for the crime series Law & Order.
