Who is Asko Künnap?

Asko Künnap is an Estonian poet, artist, graphic designer and marketer.

In 2012, the Government of the Republic of Estonia announced a competition to create a uniform logo to be used for all state institutions. A total of approximately 70 different logos were in use previously. The competition jury recommended the use of Künnap's concept design, "Prima Facie". The implementation of Künnap's logo has, however, been delayed due to it conflicting with a 1925 law that stipulates depictions of Estonia's coat of arms. The design submitted by Künnap is based namely on the coat of arms.

Künnap has also designed and released several board games. His "The Man Who Spoke Snakish" is based upon a novel of same name by Estonian author Andres Kivirähk: according to Künnap, the game is designed to be playable in an hour's time, but offer new, exciting developments every time it is played again.

The deck of poetry cards "Deck of Cards II", published by Face Church and designed by Künnap, was chosen as one of Estonia's best-looking books in 2006.

Künnap was selected as a board member of the Estonian PEN upon its re-opening on 3 February 2010.
