Who was Ayu Khandro?

Ayu Khandro, formally Ayu Khandro Dorje Paldrön was a teacher of Dzogchen and Tantric Buddhism in East Tibet. She is known for spending many years in dark retreat, and for her practice of chöd.

She was a student of both Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Nyala Pema Dündul. She also received teachings from Adzom Drukpa Drodul Pawo Dorje, and the First Jamgon Kongtrul.

Ayu Khandro gave teachings to the Dzogchen master Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche in 1951, including the Vajrayogini empowerment.
