Who is Bagher Larijani?

Bagher Larijani, is an Iranian medical doctor and Director General of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute . He is the former Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Education of Islamic Republic of Iran. Based on an official report by Essential Sciences Indicators in ISI Web of Sciences, Professor Bagher Larijani was amongst the world’s top 1% scientists in 2011 with 263 articles and 2051 citations. According to Google Scholar, in 2013, his citations exceeded 7000 with an h-index equal to 41. His fields of interest include diabetes, osteoporosis, and medical ethics.

He was the Chancellor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, until his resignation on December 27, 2012. In 2013, Professor Larijani was appointed the President of Medical Policy Council of the Islamic Azad University of Iran.

Medical Policy Council of Islamic Azad University is established in 2013 with the main objecitive of development a comprehensive strategic plan for the University based on the two main national reform plans, namely Comprehensive Health Care Reform Map and the Comprehensive Scientific Map of Islamic Republic of Iran.
