Who is Bagrat Asatryan?

Bagrat A. Asatryan, also transliterated Bagrat Asatrian or Assatrian, is an Armenian economist and the former Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia from 1994 to 1998. He is one of the architects of the modern-day Republic of Armenia. On February 3, 1998 because of a political crisis in the country, Bagrat Asatryan resigned from his post with several of his key allies including the President Levon Ter-Petrossian, Vano Siradeghyan, Head of the National Assembly Babken Ararktsyan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Arzumanyan.
