Who is Bibi Jamal Khatun?
Bībī Jamāl Khātūn was a Sufi woman saint of Sindh who lived in Sehwan, Sindh. She was the younger sister of a famous and influential Sufi, Mīān Mīr, who was her spiritual preceptor. After ten years of marriage, she separated from her husband and secluded herself in her room to devote herself to a life of asceticism, prayer, and meditation. Her brother Mīān Mīr referred to her spiritual exercises as an example when instructing his disciples.
Prince Dārā Shikoh devoted the second chapter in his book of Qādirī biographies, Sakīnat al-Awliyā, to Bībī Jamāl. He praised her as the Rābi‘ah of her time and described several miracles attributed to her.
