Who is Biff Pocoroba?
Biff Benedict Pocoroba is a former Major League Baseball catcher, who also played a few games at third base. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 1971 amateur draft.
As a rookie, Pocoroba got attention during spring training in 1975 by throwing out 11 straight would-be base stealers. He made his major-league baseball debut on April 25, 1975, as a defensive replacement in the Braves' 5–3 loss to the San Diego Padres at San Diego.
His best season was in 1977 when he achieved career-highs with 123 games, a Batting average of .290, 8 home runs, 24 doubles, and 44 runs batted in. In 1978, he made the National League All-Star team, finishing the season with a .242 batting average, 6 home runs, and 34 RBI in 92 games. A torn Rotator cuff injury slowed his career and he played his last game on April 20, 1984, at the age of 30.
