Who is Bill Enouy?

Bill Enouy is a Canadian politician, currently serving as mayor of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

A 1964 graduate of Kirkland Lake Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Enouy was first elected mayor in the 2000 municipal election, Enouy previously served as a town councillor in Kirkland Lake. He was an outspoken advocate of the failed Adams Mine proposal to repurpose a defunct open pit mine in Kirkland Lake as a landfill. He also later supported a controversial plan by Bennett Environmental to open a soil remediation plant in Kirkland Lake. He is formerly a teacher at King George Public School. He has also been involved in local hockey, including the Legion 87's of the Great North Midget Hockey League. On January 7, 2014, Enouy announced before the town council's meeting that he would not seek re-election in 2014.
