Who is Brian Pallister?

Brian William Pallister is a Canadian politician and the Leader of the Opposition of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. He represented the riding of Portage—Lisgar in the Canadian House of Commons from 2000 to 2008. He previously served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1992 to 1997, and was a key cabinet minister in the provincial government of Gary Filmon. Pallister is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.

On April 11, 2012, Brian Pallister announced his candidacy for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba. On July 28, 2012, he became the presumptive nominee when the nomination process closed with no other candidates entered, and was acclaimed as leader on July 30, 2012.
