Who is C. Johan Bakkes?
Casparus Johan Bakkes is a noted South African writer. He is the son of Cas and Margaret Bakkes and the brother of Christiaan Bakkes. He is married to the artist Nanna Vorster-Bakkes.
He is employed at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, where he lectures Management Accounting.
He has gained infamy among his family members, especially those of which reside in Canada, for continuously including extremely offensive and often exaggerated remarks towards them. He initiated much controversy in his book "To Hell and Gone" by claiming that his nephew Christian De Jager should not have had the right to be born in South Africa. In the same book, he is also quoted as expressing his disrespect for his family members living in Canada, for "betraying" South Africa in moving to Canada because of the crime and racial tensions associated with South Africa. These conditions seemed unfit to raise a family, especially after the South African farm attacks had begun in the mid-90's.
