Who is Carl Guardino?

Carl Guardino is the president and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, a public policy trade association that represents more than 375 Silicon Valley companies. He has held this position since 1997, and was the organization's vice president from 1991 to 1995. He has previously worked as an executive at Hewlett-Packard. For six years, Guardino was on the staff of 25th District State Assemblyman Rusty Areias, the last three as Areias' chief assistant.

In February 2007, governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Guardino to the California Transportation Commission, with governor Jerry Brown subsequently reappointing him. In 2000, the San Jose Mercury News named Guardino one of the “Five Most Powerful” people in Silicon Valley.

Guardino was born in San Jose, California and graduated from San Jose State University. He lives in Silicon Valley with his wife and two children.
