Who was Charla Doherty?

Charla Doherty was an American actress who had short roles on Wagon Train and Dr. Kildare before originating the role of Julie Olson on the soap opera Days of our Lives. Doherty played the role from 1965 until she left the series in 1967. Doherty was replaced in the role by Catherine Dunn, who was in turn replaced by Catherine Ferrar before Susan Seaforth Hayes signed on to play the role long-term.

She also played the role of Nancy in the 1965 movie Village of the Giants.

She also directed and starred in local theater productions and was active in a non-profit group that fed the homeless.
