Who is Cheryll Sotheran?
Dame Cheryll Sotheran DNZM is a museum professional who rose to prominence as the founding Chief Executive of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa from 1993-2002.
In the New Year Honours 1999 Sotheran was appointed as a Dame Companion of The New Zealand Order of Merit for services to museum administration.
Since 2002, she has acted as Sector Director, Creative Industries, Industry New Zealand, where she is responsible for the strategic development of the creative industries across all sectors in the New Zealand economy.
Dame Cheryll received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Auckland in 1999 and, in 1998, she was made Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
