Who is D. G. Astley?

Major D. G. Astley was a Scottish curler. He participated for Great Britain at the 1924 Winter Olympics in curling. The team won the gold medal, and as a result of Astley playing for one of the Swedish teams in a playoff match against France, he also won the silver medal in the same event, the only time an athlete has won two medals in the same event at a single Games. It was long thought that they were medals for a demonstration event, but the International Olympic Committee confirmed in 2006 that they should be included in the official medal count.
