Who is Damian Stephens?

Damian Stephens is a record producer and user experience designer. Stephens has produced techno and hip hop since 1991. Currently living in South Africa, Stephens is founder and CEO of PioneerUnit Records and partner at Apartment Applied Visual Arts.

As a music producer, his production credits include Pro Kid, Trusenz, KONFAB, Ben Sharpa, Middle Finga and Archetypes. Stephens' production fuses classic East Coast Hip Hop, Detroit Techno, Dancehall, Dub, Grime and Electro.

In 1991 Stephens was signed to cult Dutch techno label DJAX UP BEATS, but only managed to release 1 EP, "Theme from the Underground".

In 2007 Stephens' production work for Ben Sharpa and KONFAB came to the attention of BBC Radio 1's Mary Anne Hobbs. Stephens' music has been played regularly on Hobbs' 'Experimental' show since then.
