Who is Daniel Chorzempa?
Daniel Walter Chorzempa is an American organist and architect.
Chorzempa was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and subsequently studied music and architecture at the University of Minnesota and further music studies in Cologne. He began his career as a pianist, having some success in Europe during the late 60s and early 70s, however he became better known as an organist. In the 1970s he was also active as a composer, associated with the Cologne School.
Chorzempa is known for his great virtuosity, particularly in the organ works of Franz Liszt and Julius Reubke. Unlike most organists, he plays from memory, without the use of sheet music.
Chorzempa has also composed electronic music, though it is little known.
