Who is Danny Troob?

Daniel "Danny" Troob is an American arranger and orchestrator, best known for his close association as orchestrator to Alan Menken's Broadway and movie musicals since his earliest works. Troob's most popular movie credits include Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Hercules, Enchanted, Tangled, and Broadway's The Little Mermaid, The Pajama Game, Shrek the Musical, and Newsies. He won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Orchestrations for Big River in 1985 and has been nominated for the Tony Award in 2012 for Newsies, 2009 for Shrek the Musical, and 2006 for The Pajama Game, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Orchestrations in 2013 for Cinderella, in 2012 for Newsies, 2009 for Shrek the Musical, 2006 for The Pajama Game, and 1994 for Beauty and the Beast. He was nominated for an Annie Award in 2001 for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Music Score an Animated Feature Production for The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea.

Troob graduated from Forest Hills High School, Class of '66 and majored in Music Composition at Harvard University and graduated in 1970. He lives in New York City. He served as mentor to Doug Besterman. and Nathan Kelly.
