Who is David Stavens?
David Stavens is Co-Founder, CEO at Know Labs / Udacity. He received a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University, advised by Sebastian Thrun. He was I was one of the principal co-creators of Stanley, the robot that won the 2005 Grand Challenge – to build a completely autonomous car that can navigate 130+ miles in the Mojave Desert. He wrote software for many of Stanley's systems including: motion planning, perception, control, and reliable computing. In addition, David serves in a project management role, coordinating the day-to-day development effort of the team. Prior to the Grand Challenge, David wrote AI prototyping software for the 2009 Mars rover mission at NASA. He holds a BSE in Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Princeton University.
