Who was Don Kiser?

Don Kiser was an American politician and the Mayor of Paris, Kentucky from 2002 up until his death in 2009.

Kiser originally was a city commissioner for five years before being elected mayor in 2002. Kiser was one of the first full-time mayors of the city as the city manager runs the city. Kiser pushed for many developments within the city including a new Wal-Mart complex. He stated in 2004 the "If you told me four years ago Paris would get a Starbucks, I'd say you were out of your mind."

Kiser collapsed on April 22, 2009, while working at city hall. He was rushed to hospital where he later died on May 23, 2009. He had a history of heart problems. His wife died in 2003 and he is survived by his five children.
