Who is Earnie Shavers?
Earnie Shavers is a former professional American boxer. He was nicknamed "The Black Destroyer" due to his fearsome punching power. Shavers is considered to be one of the hardest punchers in boxing history. Shavers fought for the world heavyweight championship twice during the late-70's against Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes. Boxing greats and former opponents; Ron Lyle, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Ken Norton and Joe Bugner have all stated that Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever faced in their respective careers.
The late boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar ranked him No. 1 as the hardest puncher in heavyweight boxing history.
The late legendary boxing trainer Angelo Dundee respectfully noted "He can get you out of there with any shot!"
