Ed Heusser

Who was Ed Heusser?

Edward Burlton Heusser was a professional baseball player. He was a pitcher over parts of nine seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Athletics, and Cincinnati Reds. He was the National League ERA champion in 1944 with Cincinnati. For his career, he compiled a 56–67 record in 266 appearances with a 3.69 ERA and 299 strikeouts. While playing, Heusser earned the colorful nickname "The Wild Elk of the Wasatch."

He was born in Salt Lake County, Utah and later died in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 46.
