Who was Eddie Collins?
Edward "Eddie" Trowbridge Collins Jr., was a professional baseball outfielder in the Major Leagues for parts of three seasons between 1939 and 1942 for the Philadelphia Athletics. Eddie's father is Baseball Hall of Fame member Eddie Collins, who is the only player in American baseball history to have 3,300+ hits in under 10,000 at-bats. Eddie Jr. worked in the Philadelphia Phillies front office for a period of time after his professional playing career ended.
