Who was Frederic Remington?
American artist Frederic Remington was the son of a wealthy newspaperman. After graduating from high school, he attended the Yale School of Fine Arts. Known for his friendly demeanor, Remington took several art classes and excelled on the school’s football team.After just one year at the school, Remington’s father passed away, and he could no longer afford his tuition. To make ends meet, he moved west and worked in a number of fields. Once he gained recognition for his artwork, Remington moved to Connecticut. After meeting Augustus Saint-Gaudens, he became a member of the man’s artist colony and spent many years there later in his life.
