Who was Friedrich Heinrich Zinckgraf?
Friedrich Heinrich Zinckgraf was a German gallery owner, art dealer and philatelist from Munich. After the WWII he was a supporter of the philatelistic department of the Munich City Library.
In the 1930ties he als worked a clerk at the Gallery Heinemann at the Lenbachplace in Munich. In 1939 he achieved the gallery by Aryanization after the Jewish owner Mrs. Franziska Heinemann had be imprisoned for some weeks by the some other Nazis. Mrs Heinemann was able to leave the prison and the country f after signing a very unfair contract with Friedrich Zinckgraf. She succeeded to get to New York an died in November 1940.
The Munich Stamp Society endowed a medal in his honour and named it after him. It is awarded each year to engaged young collectors. Already two years after his death, the city of Munich dedicated a street to him in the quarter of Großhadern.
