Who was Gary Albright?

Gary Albright was an American professional wrestler who performed most notably for Stampede Wrestling in Canada with UWF International, and All Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan. Albright was a member through marriage of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family, including Afa and Sika, Yokozuna, Rikishi, and The Rock. His widow, Monica, is the daughter of Afa Anoa'i.

An established amateur wrestler, Albright made his professional wrestling debut in 1988 for Stampede Wrestling. From the early 1990s onward, Albright would participate as a talent almost exclusively for Japanese promotions focused on shoot aspects of professional wrestling as opposed to the worked sports entertainment.

On January 7, 2000, Gary Albright collapsed in-ring upon receiving a three-quarter facelock bulldog from his opponent. Only minutes after being removed from the ring, Albright was pronounced dead. The cause of death was later ruled to be a heart attack.
