Who is Gary Yershon?

Gary Yershon is an English composer.

Yershon was born in London. He is one of a group of composers who have little or no concert or commercial recording career, but whose nevertheless prolific output is evidenced for the most part in UK theatre souvenir programs. Others in this group include Paddy Cunneen, Jason Carr and Adam Cork. Like them, Yershon's work has been limited almost exclusively to music for drama, mainly in theatre but also including radio, television and film. He has also composed for dance.

He began his working life as an actor and has also worked as writer/translator and musical director ; Mike Leigh's 1999 film Topsy-Turvy and 2008 film Happy-Go-Lucky.

He composed the music for Mike Leigh's highly acclaimed Mr Turner.

He is also noted for composing the theme tune to James the Cat.

Nominated for 2009 Drama Desk Award, Outstanding Music in a Play.
