Gayle Elizabeth Harris was ordained as Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts in 2003, succeeding Barbara Harris.
This was the first time in the Episcopal Church in the United States that a woman bishop was succeeded by another woman bishop.
Gayle Harris was born in 1951. She was ordained as a deacon in February 1981 and ordained as a priest in June 1982.
