Who is Gönül Yazar?

Gönül Yazar, born in the port city of Izmir on Augsust 12, 1936, is a popular Turkish singer and actress. She is one of the most famous Turkish entertainers of all time with a peak in 1960s and 1970s. Her sister Belkıs Özener is also a singer.

At the age of 14, she won a singing competition called "Ege Ses Kraliçesi Yarışması". She married her husband Necdet Yazar who pushed her to fame through Ankara Radio. She has released 18 music albums and has acted in more than 40 films.
