Who is Hanna Helou?
Hanna Helou was an erudite and influential Maronite priest from southern Lebanon. He was born in Wadi Jezzine on the 14th of December in 1922. He died on the 30th of June 2009.
In 1951 he joined the maronite Diocese of Saida. He founded the school Mar Elias in Saida in 1962. From 1975 up to his retirement in 2005 he was the Vicar General of the Maronite Diocese of Saida.
He has written and translated few dozens of book. His most famous book is the "Life of the Saint Augustine" which he translated from Latin. He used to be a regular columnist in An-Nahar newspaper.
