Who was Hanon Reznikov?

Hanon Reznikov was an American anarchist, theater and film actor, writer, and co-director of The Living Theatre in New York City following Julian Beck's death in 1985. He married Malina in 1988. Although he was born with the surname Reznick, he later changed it to Reznikov, the surname held by his family upon their immigration to the United States.

His first contact with The Living Theatre was in 1968, when, as a biophysics student at Yale University, he attended a performance in New York's Lower East Side. He joined the company in 1977. He wrote and directed many Living Theatre productions, including Anarchia, And Then The Heavens Closed, The Body of God, Capital Changes, Clearing The Streets, Code Orange Cantata, A Dream Of Water, Enigmas, The Rules of Civility, Utopia, and The Zero Method.

On April 13, 2008, he suffered a stroke, followed by pneumonia, and was in a clinically induced coma to help with his breathing. He died of pneumonia on May 3, 2008, at the age of 57. He is survived by his brother, James Reznick, of California.
