Who was Hans Sloane?
Sir Hans Sloane, 1st Baronet, PRS was a British physician and collector of Irish birth, notable for bequeathing his collection to the nation, thus providing the foundation of the British Museum. He gave his name to streets such as Hans Crescent and Sloane Square in London, and also to Sir Hans Sloane Square in his birthplace, Killyleagh.
