Who is Harrie Jekkers?
Harrie Jekkers is a Dutch singer, writer and cabaretier.
Jekkers studied English in Groningen and later he was a teacher in Utrecht. When that wasn't such a great success he began writing songs and texts, thanks to his father's support.
In 1978, Jekkers founded the band t Klein Orkest together with Koos Meinderts. This happened after the group Groot Orkest disbanded. With 't Klein Orkest Jekkers scored several hits, of which the best known was Over de Muur about the Berlin Wall. He scored a solo hit with O O Den Haag under the artist name Harry Klorkestein which became an unofficial anthem of The Hague.
In 1985, 't Klein Orkest was disbanded and Jekkers became a cabaretier, again working with Koos Meinderts.
O O Den Haag is played every time ADO Den Haag scores a goal in the Kyocera Stadion.
